TASIKOKI WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER
Tasikoki is a no profit foundation that focuses on wild life rescue, rehabilitation and release. Over the years the Tasikoki Wildlife center has Grown and has ow become a well know institution in North Sulawesi, helping farmers to grow sustainable organic crops and assisting the forestry department with the fight against illegal logging.
The experienced team of the wild life rescue center also work closely together with the local customs and police by conducting raids on smugglers of exotic animals. The animals are confiscated and are cared for in he beautiful 55 hectare rehabilitation facility where volunteers from around the world help to give these amazing animals a better future.
The facility has several endangered species in their care such as Orangutang's, Crested Black Macaques and Gibbon Monkeys. Their aviaries have endangered Goliath Cockatoos, birds of prey and even the mighty Cassowary Birds from Papua. Other animals include salt water crocodiles, the endemic Sun-Bears, and the Babi Rusa, the now endangered wild pigs of North Sulawesi.
At Tasikoki you will be given a 2 hour tour of the facilities including a short presentation about their project and the unique wildlife of Indonesia. The tour can be nicely combined with a trip to Tangkoko National Park to find the elusive Spectral Tarsier or any other mainland tour. Please talk to our reception team.
The wildlife rescue center is funded solely by donations and if you wish you can help support this amazing project by donating a days worth of food for the animals in the center.
Tasikoki is located only a short drive south of Bitung, approximately 50 minute from Lembeh Resort. To get there you first take the boat from Lembeh Resort to the mainland and then by car for 45 minutes.
This Centre is not a Zoo, there fore trips to Tasikoki must be arranged 2 days in advanced. Any short notice booking can not be guaranteed.
